Project Coordinator:
SCOPE
Expand the scope of the existing Washington Maritime Blue project which is currently advancing from preliminary to concept design for the building of an electric Foil Ferry in WA's Puget Sound. The expanded scope would include a hydrogen-fueled ferry, (including green H2 source and infrastructure), and would build multiple vessels/H2 installations in various ports on the U.S. East Coast, Gulf Coast and West Coast of U.S. and Canada, by creating a consortium of ferry owners who are looking to replace aging ferry assets. Funding would come from a combination of vessel owner assets and public grants.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
Multiple hydrogen powered demonstration vessels with associated infrastructure for hydrogen production, storage and bunkering.
CURRENT STATUS
UPCOMING
Exploring potential for expansion to hydrogen with current partners and seeking additional funding for hydrogen feasibility, pilot and demonstration stages. WA Maritime Blue is currently leading collaborative project for advancing design stage for full electric operations Joint Innovation Project.
